Baptism

What is baptism?

The word baptism comes from the original Greek word, baptizo, found in the New Testament, meaning "to immerse".  therefore, we practice a baptism of immersion in water to illustrate our commitment to put our selfish ways to death, burying them in the water and being raised out of the water to live a new life for God and His kingdom.

Why should I be baptized?

Jesus not only set the example, but he also commanded it.  "At that time, Jesus came from Nazareth and was baptized by John in the river."  Mark 1:9

Jesus said, "Go then, to all people everywhere and make them my disciples, baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you.   Matthew 28:19-20

Who should be baptized?

Every person who believes Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God.  "...many of the people who heard Him believed and were baptized."  Acts 8:18
